About

Carolyn Yates is a freelance writer with over five years of industry experience. She conducts herself professionally, is willing to learn and can bring a creative and organized approach to any project.

Most recently, Carolyn was the managing editor of The McGill Tribune, a newly-independent campus newspaper at McGill University in Montreal. She managed the features and arts and entertainment sections, updated the web and print edition design, and inDesigned almost to the point of insanity. Prior to becoming managing editor, Carolyn spent two years as a features editor and one year as a writer for A&E.

Carolyn has also worked for CLB Media, a B2B magazine publisher, for nearly two years. Her work, which ranges from features to profiles to in-house ad copy, has appeared in multiple publications, including Canadian Security, SP&T News, Design Product News, Electrical Business, and Manufacturing Automation. She swears it is more interesting than it sounds.

Carolyn is currently pursuing a degree in English literature and political science from McGill University. She swears it is less interesting than it sounds. She is also currently a marketing and editorial intern at the University of Toronto Press.

She remains undecided about Oxford commas.

This site was created in June of 2008, coinciding with a sudden increase in annoyed looks during Carolyn's ravings about books. In late 2008, it moved from Blogger to Wordpress, which Carolyn recommends. It is hosted by Bluehost, which she doesn't.

The body typeface is Georgia, designed by Matthew Carter and tailored for on-screen display. Everything else is Helvetica Neue, designed by Linotype.
