The premise of The Devil’s Picnic is simple: Taras Grescoe goes to various countries, most of which seem to have something to do with France, and commits borderline illegal acts of a culinary persuasion.
Sound advice.
Calling this book Year of Wonders seems a little optimistic, considering how many characters die tragically.
I will never read on an escalator in the same way again.
